Hoʻākea Kauaʻi 2025 on
23 ʻAukake in Hanalei, Haleleʻa, Kauaʻi at Hanalei Beach Park
Pronunciation of Hoʻākea: Ho- ʻ (glottal stop)- ahhh-kay-ah
Definition of Hoʻākea: to widen, to broaden
Hoʻākea Kauaʻi 2025 builds upon the momentum of Waʻa Kaulua Pae Kula to broaden the understanding of waʻa for students by providing an opportunity to engage with waʻa and ʻāina crew members, interactive learning activities, and sail.
Join us for this special gathering of students, teachers, staff, and admin of our DOE, public charter schools, ʻohana, and an auwaʻa (fleet of canoes). Our auwaʻa for Hoʻākea features a fleet of waʻa kaulua from our home island of Kauaʻi and waʻa from neighboring islands.
Hoʻākea Kauai will feature educational booths and also a special educational “Kupa Kaula Experience” that features a waʻa learning journey through multiple activity stations that culminates with being able to ride a waʻa! Registration for students is required for the Hoʻākea “Kupa Kaula Experience” which opens on August 7th, 2025 at 7:00pm: here. Space is limited! Kumu, staff, and administrators, please email waamanokalanipo@gmail.com your time preference if you are interested in booking a slot for the “Kupa Kaula Experience”. We saved some seats for you.

Note: Registration is not needed to enter Hanalei Beach Park for this event or to visit the educational booths. Registration is ONLY needed for STUDENTS interested in the “Kupa Kaula Experience” to be able to sail a waʻa.
